Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria
Mariposa Safe Families, Inc. (MSFI) Information and Referral Service reserves the right to include or exclude any organization that provides health or human services or community enrichment opportunities at their discretion. Inclusion in the database is not meant to imply endorsement of the organization, and exclusion does not suggest disapproval. MSFI is not responsible for the quality of service delivered by any agency to which callers are referred.
Definition of “Health and Human Services”:
- Services that assist individuals in becoming more self-sufficient, in preventing dependency, and in strengthening family relationships.
- Services that support personal, physical and social development
- Services that help ensure the health and well being of individuals, families, and communities.
- The continuum of programs that address human needs ranging from basic living needs (food, shelter and health care) through life improvement services (education or government services) and life enhancement (recreation and leisure services)
Definition of “Community Enrichment Opportunities”:
- Activities sponsored within the County that provide positive community involvement, family enrichment opportunities or promote healthy choices, lifestyles or relationships.
Service Area
Each community service or activity listed in the database system must comply with one of the following:
1. Be located within Mariposa County
2. Serve residents within Mariposa County
3. Out of county agencies or organizations will be listed if no comparable local services are available
Inclusion
We will include the following types of organizations that have provided services for at least six month;
- Non profit agencies or organizations providing a community service or activity
- Programs that accept Medi-Cal or have a fee structure that meets the needs of low to moderate-income individuals
- Programs that provide unique, specifically targeted or difficult to access services
- Organizations (such as churches, social clubs) which offer a service or activity to the community at large, not just their own members
- Hospitals, health clinics, personal and intermediate care homes
- Support groups
- Private companies or practitioners which provide a community service
- Organizations outside of our geographic parameters which provide a service not available locally
- Commercial organizations offering a service
- Elected representatives
Exclusion/Removal
Organizations listed in the database are expected:
· To affirm the dignity and equality of all individuals
· To respect the environment which we share
· To hold to the rule of law
· To resolve conflicts with peaceful, civil means
· To provide services within one’s scope of competency and (if applicable) within one’s professional code of ethics
· To provide services on the bases of the client’s/participant’s need, without prejudice toward the person based on age,
gender, sexual orientation, marital status, ethnicity or national origin, family history, religion, political persuasion, race,
color, physical or mental capacity, appearance or social-economic status
Any organization that attempts to undermine these values by exploitation, intimidation, harassment, coercion, unlawful discrimination or by degrading or terrorizing others shall be excluded from the database. Organizations that restrict services or activities based on moral beliefs concerning conduct, behavior or practices are expected to disclose these restrictions prior to inclusion in the database. While we seek to be inclusive and to include varied opportunities with diverse values, Mariposa Safe Families, Inc. reserves the right to exclude any organization whose restrictions are deemed to be in violation of the above values.
Other reasons for exclusion or removal include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Organizations that do not expressly meet the inclusion criteria
- Organizations that are not licensed in areas where licensing standards exist
- Organizations that misrepresent their services in any way
- Organizations that deny services in violation of federal, state, or local laws or regulations
- Organizations that have been found to misrepresent themselves or engage in criminal activities or unethical practices
- Organizations that have been found to provide services outside their scope of competency
- Organizations that have been found to abandon clients, fail to provide agreed upon services, or in any manner mistreat clients/patrons
Inclusion/Exclusion Determination
Mariposa Safe Families, Inc. will consider including for-profit services to the database on an individual basis. Inclusion would be based upon uniqueness of service, lack of comparable services available through not-for-profit agencies or groups, and the degree of need for the service. The MSFI Executive Director and Community Resource Specialist are authorized by the Board of Directors to determine the inclusion/exclusion status of an agency or organization.
Updating
Organizations up-dates should be made or verified for accuracy on a need to change basis. In addition MSFI will contact organizations annually to update data. If after the third attempt an organizations data has not been updated they can be removed from the Information and Referral database. MSFI will not be held responsible for the accuracy of updates, but will make every effort to keep agency information current.
Appeal Process
If an organization has been excluded or removed according to the Inclusion/Exclusion criteria or a decision made by the MSFI Executive Director and Community Resource Specialist, the director of the protesting agency has a right to appeal by presenting the agency’s case to the MSFI Board of Directors. Upon review the decision of the Board of Directors is final.
